Lakewood Health System supports individuals with Parkinson’s in improving their movement and quality of life through the Parkinson’s exercise and wellness program, PWR!
PWR! Moves are at the core of the specially designed PWR! exercise and physical therapy program. The program focuses on skills that often decline in individuals with Parkinson’s, helping to maintain mobility and overall function. There are four basic PWR! Moves which are practiced in various positions, making them both physically and mentally stimulating, which allows for individualized care of unique symptoms.

These classes focus on engaging the body, consistently adapting routines as you progress through the workout. Evidence shows individuals at any stage of Parkinson’s can diminish their symptoms and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. This full-body workout is designed to help you move better and do more of what you love—while addressing the physical and cognitive challenges of Parkinson’s disease.

Each session is held in a supportive, energizing group environment where you’ll be safely challenged to push your limits and improve your daily activity. The exercises are purposeful, engaging, and adapted to your individual abilities. Each session will be led by PWR! Moves certified therapist, Michelle Anderson, PTA.

The class will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 to 1 p.m., beginning September 2nd, and will take place in the Rehabilitation gym at Lakewood Health System’s Main Campus in Staples. Thanks to the generosity Lakewood Health System Foundation donors, there is no cost to participants.
