Lakewood Health System to Offer Parkinson’s-Specific Exercise Classes to Help Patients Stay Active and Independent

Lakewood Health System’s rehabilitation department is excited to share a new opportunity available to those living with Parkinson’s disease: PWR!Moves group exercise classes—a Parkinson’s-specific program designed to help people stay active, strong, and independent.

PWR!Moves is a research-based exercise class that focuses on "making function exercise" by targeting key fitness areas: strength, balance, agility, aerobics, and flexibility. This full-body workout is designed to help people move better and do more of what they love—while addressing the physical and cognitive challenges of Parkinson’s disease.

Each session is held in a supportive, energizing group environment where people will be safely challenged to push their limits and improve their daily activity. The exercises are purposeful, engaging, and adapted to each individual’s abilities. Each session will be led by PWR!Moves certified therapist, Michelle Anderson, PTA.

This class will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 to 1 p.m., beginning September 2nd, and will take place in the Rehabilitation gym on the lower level of Lakewood Health System’s Main Campus in Staples. Thanks to the generosity of Lakewood Health System Foundation donors, there is no cost to participants.

For more information or to sign up, please call Lakewood Rehabilitation at 218-894-8427 or sign up online at www.lakewoodhealthsystem.com > Calendar > PWR!Moves Class.
